What is Node.js used for?
When Netflix was optimizing its streaming platform with a backend written in Java, they decided to give a chance to an upcoming star: Node.js. This light, modern, technology allowed them to drastically improve performance. The reduction of the entire server-side application start-up time from 40 minutes to just 1 minute on such a VOD (Video on Demand) platform.
